Project Mental Health in COVID-19 Pandemic | SM-COVID19

The National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) is promoting a study to assess the impact of the pandemic on the mental health and well-being of health professionals and others on the front lines, citizens in isolation, quarantine or social distancing throughout the pandemic period. Specific objectives of the study are:

  1. Assess the impact on the mental health and general well-being of target groups at three points in the course of the pandemic;
  2. Identify the modifiable factors of protection or weakening of mental health that prevail during the pandemic period;
  3. Assess perceived access to health services and individual protection measures.

Data collection will take place at three different times, between May and July 2020, through an online survey.

The evidence obtained will help to improve health services responses, through the production of recommendations, in time, to prevent or reduce the psychological suffering of general population and health professionals and other professionals.

Preliminary data and analysis will be available at the project website: https://sm-covid19.pt/

Funding agency: Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), under the RESEARCH4COVID19 program
