FFUL provides tests for the diagnosis of COVID-19

“Faculty of Pharmacy of the Universidade de Lisboa (FFUL), through the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, enjoying Teaching Staff and Researchers’ knowledge and experience accumulated in the diagnosis and investigation of infectious diseases, is providing to health institutions, since March 27, 2020, its technical and scientific resources for the diagnosis of COVID-19 through the screening of SARS-Cov-2. This competence was recognized by the National Health Institute Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) and Directorate-General of Health (DGS)

For this action, members of several Departments, of the Research Institute for Medicines (iMed.ULisboa) and non-teaching staff were mobilized for technical and administrative support. FFUL would like to thank the support of the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society (OF), National Association of Pharmacies (ANF), Portuguese Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry (APIFARMA) and Association for the Development of Teaching and Research in Microbiology (ADEIM), without which this action would not have been possible.

In this difficult time and in view of the problem we are experiencing, FFUL says PRESENT, in favor of the Health of citizens.

The tests are done at the FFUL Department of Microbiology and Immunology, from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 8 pm. Any questions in this area should be referred to Prof. João Gonçalves (joao.goncalves@ff.ul.pt). “
