Contributions to the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) National Preparedness and Response Plan: evaluation, through the ECOS household panel survey, of the impact of the pandemic on the Portuguese population with identification of chronic diseases unmet needs, mental health evolution and characterization of lifestyles and new social and family dynamics.

Three surveys will be conducted in the ECOS telephone panel, that consists of a representative sample of the Portuguese population. Data on major depression, sleep disturbances, health needs in chronic diseases, nutrition and food insecurity, alcohol, tobacco, physical exercise, effects of work and family changes induced by the pandemic and use of social networks in health maintenance will be collected. This study will allow to answer a set of questions raised by the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) National Preparedness and Response Plan  and may serve as a basis for decision-making and the development of interventions aimed at minimizing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Portuguese population.
